The real problem with my position right now is that I can't find any path that takes me from where I am now to somewhere that I will be happy in five years.

I think what I really want is for the world to come to a fiery end, freeing me from this impossible situation without disappointing anyone around me.

There will be no time for disappointment.

I was linked to it today, and wanted to share it. It's around a 15 minute podcast, and is sad and sweet and deals with aging and Alzheimer's.

So, I am doing a periodic reread of The Sharing Knife, by Bujold, and found myself mulling on how Dag has grown on me as a character. I feel as though I like him better every time I read the book. So, one of the weirdest things about this job is the speed at which things happen.

I'm leaving for the UK tomorrow at 7:40. I get back Friday evening.

Lorrie seriously cracks me up sometimes. She wants to act so grown up, and it is occasionally hilarious. From yesterday, when she was at my parents' house:

Grandma: Lorrie, are you okay?
Lorrie: (crying) No! I fell down, and now I'm damaged!
