Its just a year today since my mother fell and broke her femur, so that we had to come home from our holiday.
We are away again from Wednesday, and everything is in place, so that she is fully cared for.
However, she's determined to make me feel rotten about having a holiday,
and has tried every day over the last couple of weeks to make me cancel.

Hard to believe that's another year gone, but there it is.

Been a strange year, for me, but with some successes, and certainly a clearer way forward has appeared, I'm glad to say. I feel I know myself better now. The veil lifts a little sometimes at this time of year, and the choices and decisions become clearer and easier to manage.

One book I have read lately is worth a mention here. This is 'a change of environment' by Robert Edward Bridge.

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this book, and how it kept me reading. This is an account of becoming a patient while a teenager in New Zealand, in a high security mental hospital, with almost no hope of release.

Solstice Eve.

Tonight is probably the most important of the year for me, since tomorrow, the Solstice begins the thirteen days of Yule. I learned while I was still very young that a wish made tonight will find a way to come to me by the last day of Yule.

I learned this evening that someone who was once very significant in my life had died; - not recently, I must add,
In fact he was a year younger than I am now, when he went.

I owed him so much;
I didn't like working in theatre, but he was a joy, joking through operations.

He helped me overcome infertility, and oversaw my pregnancy,

A few years ago, my agent rang me and offerd me work on cruise ships, and
when I feel like bragging, I mention that I not only met Norman Wisdom - he was so sociable, a lot of people have done! - that, but I actually worked with him for a month,  on a cruise ship in the Caribbean
(Christmas and Nerw Year tour 2004-2005).

A few weeks ago, after my morning walk, I (uncharacteristically) switched on the TV, and found myself watching a programme about angels. Nothing heavy, just very light watching. The following weekend, we were back in Essex, visiting old friends, and to my surprise suddenly found myself the owner of  the book promoted in that programme.
