So I just moved to Newport News from southern Illinois. The birds have found my feeders and I've seen all sorts. But one thing puzzles me. There are no (old world) sparrows. It seems like a lot of artists in my age bracket are desperately unhappy. I include myself in that category. It isn't teen angst (as we are not teens), but something else. My Livejournal friends list is just full of hopeless entries.

What is happening, you guys? Is it the stars? The art profession during the recession? Man, what is going ON?

I was trying to get together a group of artists last night in the creator's lounge but when I went there it was so crowded and I knew nobody in there. I am currently in it. My road-tripping buddy and I drove like all get-out from St. Louis to Texas, and then from Texas to here with a stop at Palo Duro along the way. For a very long time my relationship to the furry fandom was extremely casual. I made animal art for furries, they paid me money. The people I interacted with were good folks, sometimes a little weird, sometimes a little socially awkward, but well-meaning. I could handle that. They were basically nerds.
