So it's the Lioness wig (of great reknown) and I wore it previously for hedgehog purposes. It got more and more frazzled throughout the day on which I wore it, and then was stuffed in a bag, so it's pretty unhappy looking (if a Lioness wig could ever be said to look happy, which is doubtful). I got up late today, as is only right. Of course I woke several times during the night because of weather-noises, chief among which was the sleet that fell before the snow. So I got some 5/8" twill tape for petti ties today. Sad I could only use a 40% coupon, but I want this project DONE more than I want to save a few more cents on it. I have tomorrow off, so I plan to finish the petticoat and work on my teacup bag. Today, I ironed some selvedge.

I was going to pin together the other side of the matelasse petti the other day and noticed the selvedge was very creased (and this was at like 11pm so NOPE) and put it down. Today I, uh, cut the matelasse into two pieces. I poked and prodded it for a while trying to figure out where I could cut it to maximize length and still have the hem end at the same place on the pattern on both front and back. I discovered to my delight that the pattern is symmetrical up and down, so I just cut right across the middle of one set ( Read more... )

Sewing day on Sunday saw me handsew a shift, starting from an uncut length of linen. I embroidered my initials on it once I got home that evening (because three of us are making shifts from the same fabric and roughly the same layout!), but I didn't get a drawstring in it until this morning. I spent a lot of my day off yesterday bumming around NOT doing anything, but finally got around to making a split-rump-cum-half-petticoat. I used this as a springboard, mainly. Thanks, girliegirl32786! I'm not sure how I feel about the finished product, though; the pads are SO oomphy!
