We have reached a critical point. Tonight I put the tray onto the toilet. Isis is happy to sit on it, and to scratch at the kitty litter, but hasn't actually done anything yet. Hermes is NOT IMPRESSED. He keeps looking for his kitty tray on the floor. He will stand on the tray on the toilet if I place him there. but that is it.

kitty toilet update
So far we have introduced the cats to the new tray (http://www.litterkwitter.com/en/index.php). We are using the plastic seat with the red insert. First we put it next to their usual tray in the laundry. Then we removed the old tray so they had to use the new tray. Then we ( Read more... ) -

On one of the ballet chat boards I read, somebody asked about easy variations to learn. Firstly, since variations are choreographed for professionals to perform, none are exactly 'easy'- even if the steps are relatively easy (e.g. dying swan is mostly courous & port des bras), then the acting part of the performance becomes much harder ( Read more... ) -

We're about to start trying to train the cats to use the human toilet. Already we can tell which one is going to be the A student, and which one will be the D student. Isis sat watching the training DVD, paying attention to the cats on the DVD. Hermes wandered off and then fell asleep..... -
Isis ate my experiment....
although it is ok, it was after I had finished testing the effect of temperature on rennin action (scientific blah blah for making junket at different temperatures).
Also, I have made some plaster casts (for fossils). And prepared pictures of skulls for comparing dentition, masseter muscle size and diet.
This is the fun part of lesson prep.... -

As mentioned previously, Isis is totally unpredictable. This morning (ok, it was noon, but I'm on holidays so that's when I got up) I was making french toast, and turned around to see Isis climbing up the handles of the kitchen drawers as though it was a ladder. -
And her next trick was....
Last night I was sitting on the floor giving Hermes his tablet (he caught Isis' interstinal bug). I was holding him, with one hand holding his front paws together, and the other hand holding his mouth shut so he didn't spit out the tablet ( Read more... ) -

Isis is the most curious cat I have ever had. Every time you open the fridge, she's got her nose in it. Every cupboard door is an invitation to her. She climbed into my clothes organisers and nestled into my singlets. She climbed into my bag and pulled out a sanitary pad (unused, I'll mention), got it out of the wrapper and shredded it.
