This juvenile ruby-throated hummer was found today in the woods, with no sign of a nest or mom. I took a video of it feeding this afternoon (I'm a wildlife rehabilitator).

Someone must turned the hummer spigot on-- I've seen more today than I have past 2 weeks combined.  Still not near as many as I usually have, but encouraging none the less.  Granted, I refilled all my feeders yesterday, and it's storming/raining which increases activity at the feeders, but still.  I see a lot of females, too, must mean the eggs ( Read more... )

...my.hummingbirds.  Two weeks ago, I had more than 2 dozen.  Now, I'm lucky if I see 2 or 3 all day.  The only thing I can think of  is a cat getting them.  My closest  neighbors are half mile or  away.

Edit: The 1st video is May 10 '08.  The 2nd is late August '07
