Chanukah - night one
Last night was our first night with our new Chanukiah with the oil lights instead of candles. It was lovely. It burned over an hour, but not all the way to the bottom - i don't know if if was because of an air issue (not getting enough at the bottom of the cup) or a wick issue (not enough/too much wick above the float) or an oil issue (is organic ( Read more... ) -
Thanksgiving success... for one.
So, the mushroom bourguignon turned out wonderfully. The mushrooms, carrots, and pearl onions were perfectly cooked - and the sauce was rich, and well balanced in texture and flavor.
But... no one but me ate any of it. It says "serves 4" - but there was probably enough for 6 easily. i served it over riced potatoes. There are many left overs. -
Planned Menue.. as of now.
My planned menue for today is rather a lot for just the 4 of us. i rather hope that others will stop by, but no confirmations, yet, so i bet it will just be our family ( Read more... ) -
Thanksgiving... i am so full of thanks
Every day i begin and end my waking time with a few moments of thanks. i am truly one of the lucky people in this world. i have so many wonderful people in my life, not the least of which are my husband and sons. i also have wonderful friends and chosen family. They will not be quite what they are now... and yet more.
.. meaning today our 2 rescued kittens are going to be taken to the NOAH clinic in Stanwood to be surgically altered. It is a surgery that all of my dogs and cats have had, but i still find myself feeling nervous. Surgery is surgery. And they are soooo little. Ok, they aren't THAT little, but they are smaller than any of our other cats. So... ( Read more... ) -

Success is highly overrated....
.. Well, my NaNoWriMo project this year is unlikely to reach the 50K mark. i got sidetracked the weekend mom and i ran away to Ocean Shores and didn't really find my way back.
