Thanks to the advice of my remarkable friends, I now have a working packet analysis set-up involving my EeePC, a 4 port hub and far too much ethernet cable (I should definitely acquire/make some shorter lengths). I could fit this entire setup in a small bag and take it on site, it's just a shame the hub isn't battery operated, which would make this ( Read more... ) -

Networking is one of the many areas of computing that I'm really not that knowledgeable about, however, recently I've found myself with a need to use network analysis software/packet sniffers like Wireshark to determine what a particular piece of software was actually doing.
