I just reread chapters 9-11 of my book. They don't suck as much as I remembered. In fact, I found myself getting into them and reading more than I had intended, which is why I am still awake at a quarter til 5 in the A. M. This is encouraging. I just kicked out 3500 words tonight, more than I wrote all of August and September (I think. I don't actually keep track by month.)  I decided that I'm tired of working on the first draft of this damn thing, so I'm going to kick out the rest in record time.  I'm thinking 5000 words a day will get me done in under 3 weeks.  I currently stand at 62, ( Read more... )

I got back from vacation yesterday.  I went up to New Meadows, ID and picked up a friend and then drove to Seattle.  All told it was about 36 hours of driving spread over 4 days.  But there were a few non-driving days in there as well so that was nice.  Most interesting development was coming out to my two friends, (both women) when they kept ( Read more... )

Okay, that temp job didn't last as long as I had hoped.  The agency had predicted 2-5 weeks.  It ended up lasting 12 days.  It was decent money (and it should be for 56 hours a week), but it was a bit rough not having a day off.  In any case, it was good to get out of the house again.  And more interestingly, it got me over my dread of getting ( Read more... )

I got a temp job on Thursday.  It's simple data entry for the Cash for Clunkers dealie.  We look at a form the dealer sends in, compare it to several documents they also send in, and approve it or reject it if something is missing or otherwise doesn't qualify.  Absolutely mind-numbingly easy.  They don't know how long it will last.  I've heard ( Read more... )

Quick update.  I'm catching a flight to New Jersey (Philly, actually) tomorrow morning.  It's my cousin's wedding on Saturday, and I'm spending the entire following week at the Jersey Shore.  Can't wait.  Why does a man with no job need a vacation?  Well, it will be a great break from all this fucking boredom.

I haven't written in two days now.  I hit a wall that I can't get beyond at the moment.  Not a creative wall with my story, so to speak.  Not writers block.  More of "this is stupid and cliched and not worth continuing."  I certainly have the whole story in my head that I can put down on paper.  I'm just wondering if it's worth it.  The other story ( Read more... )

The writing is slow going.  Total word count stands at 49K, roughly 1/3 of the way to the finish line as I currently have it plotted.  I call this the rough draft, but there was actually a previous version which I guess is the true rough draft.  That one was much shorter though, so since I'm adding so much new stuff, I consider this version the ( Read more... )
