Dear Livejournal,

Since last we spoke, I have:

1. Finished my dissertation and graduated! Woo, I am Dr. Me! (Alternatively: Me, PhD.)

2. Moved to NYC for my postdoc! ...sometimes when I think about this, I am kind of impressed with my guts. Also: very very lucky that my family is supportive!

3. Been v. busy. Dear academia: why so difficult? SIGH.

Wow, Dr. Iseult, congratulations! Also, NYC! I'm in DC. Despite being only a four hour bus ride away, I haven't been to NYC in two years and am itching to visit again, hopefully in the fall. Shall I email you about a fangirl meetup if I manage it?

Thank you! :) And yeah, let me know if you are coming to town. As a matter of fact, I should be coming up to myself DC in the fall for a conference!

Congratulations, Dr. You!! As a late comer to uh here, what's your degree in?

ALSO, wish I could go see the eagle! Sounds fantastically gay! Stupid Philadelphia being far, etc.

Thank you! I study Social Psychology--experimental, not clinical--and my particular interest is in how relational or interpersonal insecurity, either chronic or acute (like, long-term personality-wise or induced by rejection or exclusion in a particular situation) affect how we think, what our motives are, and how we behave. :) I find it very interesting!

Pesky geographic distance. Someone really needs to get on the transporter thing, like, yesterday. *shakes fist*

HEEEE. IAN! That is delightful!

And yes, it was such an interesting article--I learned so much about the on-the-ice part of hockey!
