Feedback needed
I'm finally back to working on the natural form dress for the event I can't go to. Hehe. Anyway, I'm trying to decide on what color to do the embroidery on the bodice/corselet. I've narrowed my options down to either a pale blue that matches the blouse and underskirt color, or a contrasting deep red. In the pictures, I've embroidered samples on ( Read more... ) -
A little bit of green in my day
I went grocery shopping at Lucky's this morning. (Yes, I was supposed to be at church, but it is awfully difficult to get up at 7:30 when you didn't go to sleep until 2.) Anyway, as usual, I brought my canvas bags with me. I'm trying to make a habit of carrying them with me anytime I go shopping; I simply hate bringing home yet more plastic bags ( Read more... ) -
I haz skillz
I can knit. Well, sort of. I've started and taken apart the same project about half a dozen times and think I finally have the hang of it now. It does take a whole lot more concentration than crocheting, so I'm not sure I'll do as much of this, maybe just focus on the vintage/historic patterns, at least, once I figure out how to read them. I finally got over to the local Joann's that is closing/moving/combining with another store to become a super store. Not only was everything on sale, but they were discounting an additional 10% of the posted discount. So, I kind of went a little wild. My big splurge was on cotton velvet. Back to the drawing board
I've had a rather productive weekend. Maybe it has actually helped to come down with a head cold; it gave me an excuse not to go out to all the things I was supposed to (lunch with friends, chaperon prom, etc.) in order to stay in and sew. Why oh why?
I'm exhausted. Working on masquerade dress all evening. Still not done. Parts will come with me on BART tomorrow for hand sewing. Tomorrow is it, though, and that's final. This project will be done! I am determined. It will not beat me and I will not collapse in mental anguish before it.

Wheeee!
So, I finally did it. I went to a real salon and let the stylist do whatever she wanted with my hair. You should have seen her eyes light up. I truly made her day. It can't be all that often when someone with nearly waist length hair comes in and says, "Cut off as much as you want--it just has to look super cute and professional enough for my ( Read more... )
