So every Monday they have a shuk, which is an open air market in which you haggle for fresh fruits and vegetables and clothing and random things, and you end up coming home with amazing stuff for very low prices. Just got back from Tel Aviv, and it is a truly wonderful city. We spent a lot of time shopping, but rarely buying as we tend to have no money, and drinking coffee in hip, swank places. The presentations went fabulously. Everybody had a wonderful time and KT and I each ended up being involved in half the presentations. It was great to perform and see my work performed and I'm already looking forward to the next one. We were extremely well recieved and I couldn't have asked for a better result. Just got back from a really nice potluck dinner at the artist's colony. The colony is a bunch of old warehouses and hangars just outside of Arad that are in the process of being renovated into amazing art studios. Well, things are moving along wonderfully in Arad. KT and I both wrote one-acts this week that will be presented to WUJS and the Mayor and some others on Monday in a staged reading. Should be fun. It's been a relaxed week, which is really what I think I needed after the craziness since we've gotten here. Ok, so I just got back from a wonderful long weekend trip with KT and our friends Tzipporah and Jared. We started on Wednesday by renting a car and driving to Tel Aviv, where we saw an incredible, nearly undescribable concert. Wow, it's been an incredible week. It started with us going on a four-day hike through the Negev, which ranks among the most beautiful things I've ever seen. We started from Arad and just worked our way down to Eilat. There's nothing like four days hiking together to bring people closer. It's been a really good past few days. On Thanksgiving we had a wonderful big group of people over to the writer's house and I cooked a huge meal for everybody. The food was wonderful and I even managed to pretty well duplicate my mom's sweet potatoes, so that turned into the highlight for everybody. Hi! So yesterday was spent cleaning the Writer's House for hours with some of the other Artists and it was a total mess, but we managed to get it done. There were rat droppings all over the place, particularly high on the walls, to which we all marvelled at the ability of rats.
