Our colds are winding down, which is truly great because we've had to hole up in our rooms for most of this last week (though we managed to write about 50 pages, so it wasn't all bad). So we just got back from a wonderful weekend in Jerusalem with a few friends and had a fabulous time. We left Thursday evening and took the 2 hour bus ride, arriving around 8pm. We went to Ben Yehuda street and we had a wonderful, inexpensive hotel a block from Zion Square with real mattresses and even a real bathtub! We ended up exhausted by 11pm ( Read more... )

Today we went to Masada, followed by the Dead Sea. The Dead Sea felt incredible, better than I remember it, and we got bags of salt, that generally go for hundreds of dollars in America, for free from the Sea floor. Masada is an interesting place. Everybody questions both the heroicism of their actions, or whether they even took place at all. ( Read more... )

We just got back from 2 days hiking and camping in the Negev and it was awesome. I can't tell you how surreal everything is. We went to the Flour Cave yesterday and the walls feel like chalk dust and we walked in total darkness with bats over our heads and it was all just so phenomenal.
