I managed to pick up a more appropriately sized drain pan from NAPA and get the concrete poured. After letting it cure for a little over a week, I extracted it from the drain pan this evening. I ended up having to cut the pan to get it apart, but overall it looks like this was a pretty successful method. I want to plasti-dip the clamps that I will ( Read more... )

Things on the mailbox front have not gone well. Once the concrete base had appeared to dry, I discovered that just brushing my hand across it caused it to crumble away, and when we tried to lift the block it broke into many peices.  Apparently the concrete that we used had been sitting in my parents garage for a long time and had absorbed enough ( Read more... )

It seems like I've been pretty busy but somehow don't have much to report? I poured the concrete at the end of November and it's been curing/drying since, but that's been going slow because we had lined the form with plastic and the weather has been cool and wet. I haven't gotten a lot done lately until this long weekend started, since it was still pretty damp around here, but on Friday I got the yard mowed and started burning some of the brush. I still need to get back out there and do some trimming and spray some more weedkiller, but that's going to have to wait as it started raining again on Saturday ( Read more... )

Slow progress as of late. There has been a lot of rain that has prevented much real work from taking place on the yard or shop, but I did manage to get the majority of my stuff moved over, so now I've got to try and get it all organized and arranged in the shop.

I've been pretty busy with work lately and not gotten as much done here at the house as I'd like to, but I have moved the majority of my stuff that was in the parents' garge over to my shop, including the Volvo. Well, the light dimmer on the ceiling fan seems to work sporadically. Sometimes it will function, sometimes it's just on/off. I don't often have occasion to use it, so it's probably not a very big deal though.

The dimmer for my ceiling fan suddenly started working properly with my LED bulbs this morning (actually, it probably started last night or monday night, but I didn't test it until this morning)!  \o/ Whoohoo!
