I think it's unfortunate that rock stars are role models at all. Their job is to make music and entertain us, not teach the children. The same goes for athletes and other celebrities. This is a great question. I do not believe people need an established religion or god to be moral. Most of us were born with a conscience and have learned a sense of right and wrong from our families and cultures which may or may not include a religious worldview. Kids in church rebel when they go to college for a reason. For that matter, kids not in church rebel in college for a reason if they've been on a tight leash their whole lives.
