We all know about the train wreck last week.  What I just found out today is that one of my sister's good friends was on that train and is currently fighting for his life in the hospital.  He has gone through 50 units of blood since he's been there and, although he has been upgraded from "critical" to "critical, but stable," he has a long way to go ( Read more... )

A short while back, a good friend of mine, ian_tiberius, had to have emergency surgery. He's fine, and has a really nifty looking scar (which, by the way, I have been instructed to tell my daughters came from a sword wound dealt by a pirate named Filthy Pierre).
