Into the time slip....
I'm working my first 'midnight' shift tonight. I'll be starting at 10:30pm and getting out around 6:00am. We went to the 24-hour format a few months ago and it's been pretty successful. Comfort food
It's been a rough winter and spring, so I've been making this cake a lot..it's sweet, sour and salty all at the same time. The name of it, however, is a bit off-putting.. Dump Cake ..but that's because you just 'dump' all the ingredients in the pan and put it in the oven.

Random acts of kindness...
I've been working in this business for the last 23 years and something happened today that has never happened to me before. When I'm working one of the drive-thru windows, I'll sometimes joke with a customer that they've "brought me 'something'" ..if they have some pizza boxes, or subs or a cake in the front seat. To sleep or not to sleep.....
I had to stay late at work tonight, which normally isn't a problem because I can sleep in, since I don't have to be to work again until 3:30pm tomorrow (okay, today ). The problem is, we're in the middle of having the house painted, and the painters will be here at 8am. Update
Pretty much good news, as far as I know..haven't talked to the Mr. tonight and I don't know if he's heard anything from his Mom. But she was diagnosed with breast cancer, but according to her cancer doctor "..something else will kill you before the cancer will." Apparently they are going to treat it with radiation (or possibly hormones)..not quite ( Read more... ) -

They diagnosed Mom with cancer...she still hasn't said what kind, though I got the impression they were thinking it was breast cancer. No treatment plan that I know of, either, and she's been moved to a nursing home/ rehab center for the time being. She wants to talk to the Mr. tonight and maybe we'll find out more then. I was right, it took less time to get the tooth out than it did to fill out their paperwork online, but both the Doctor and his assistant were very kind. He numbed me up to my earlobe on that side of my face, so I couldn't feel anything and it took maybe 5 or 6 minutes to get it out. Those of you who have read this journal for awhile know that I have a rather contentious relationship with the Mr.'s Mom and sister. Sadly, they're in a 'spot of bother' as the Brits say, which prompted this post.
