Chemotherapy treatment #1 wasn't too bad. The nurses hug you when you come in and when you leave, and pray with you if you want it before the chemo drugs begin. It took a bit longer than I was told it would, largely because the nurses couldn't find my lab report for about an hour. ...I start chemotherapy on Tuesday. This is sooner than I'd expected, and a little nervewracking since I'd hoped my dad would be here to do the driving, but I'm not going to delay starting it. The hospital is less than 5 miles from my house so I think I should be able to get there and back again without too much trouble ( Read more... )

Yesterday (Monday) I had my first post-op visit with my gyn/oncologist. The staples from my robotic surgery were removed (hooray!) and the nurse-practitioner said I did not look as if I'd had major surgery just 10 days ago. They also told me the final pathology of my cancers.

Sorry for no news since I went into the hospital on May 6th - I forgot my LJ password!

My surgery started about 4 hours late ( 6 p.m. rather than 2 p.m.) and became pretty complex. ( The gory details follow... )

I had the colonoscopy yesterday and was dismayed to learn that in addition to the ovarian mass, there is a mass in my ascending colon as well. (This despite the colon cancer blood test results which were normal.) And today I must return to the hospital for another scan to determine exactly where it is ( Read more... )
