I'm sick of drama.
It seems like there has been a constant high level of crap going on, and it's starting to make me all tense. It started before Christmas, with the horsey hoof giant abcess hole, which merged nicely into the panic of early primary season. I've actually been reading this month, somehow, in spite of the election crazy.
Atonement was so much better on the reread than the initial read. I'm not sure if it's because my sensibilities as a reader have changed, or because I've read more of his work, or what, but I liked it much more this time through. I always liked the style and ( Read more... ) -
I feel like I should recap '07...
It was such a big year for me that I have no idea how on earth 2008 could stack up. I mean, I went to Africa, got Cally, met Steve, went to NYC to see the Stoppard "Utopia" trilogy, visited Philly and saw Independence Hall and King Tut's tomb artifacts, ate pizza and saw the Field Museum in Chicago, got to ride my horse down the stretch on MD ( Read more... ) -
2007 Reading
Well, mostly. I sort of stopped keeping up with the list halfway through, so I may have missed a book or two. I'm also not counting the Don Quixote I stopped reading midway, or the copies of Emma and the Isaacson Einstien bio I'm still working on. Plus I did a lot of reading in my Rome guidebook and the Italian phrasebook, but I don't know that ( Read more... ) -

Well, the hole in Cally's foot, per the vet, really is just an abcess hole. Her theory is that since the giant hole from earlier in the fall that was healing up got mud and muck and rocks up in it again and reabcessed a bit. She debated x-raying, but told me the horse would be far lamer if any deep hoof structures were involved, but if she didn't ( Read more... ) -
Urgh.
That's pretty much the only verbal noise I'm capable of at this point. Some sort of cold/sinusy thing has settled into my head, and has left me operating on large quantities of Dayquil and Afrin. Nondrowsy my ass. It also led to me using more sick leave this past weekend than I'd previously used in my entire two and a half years of work there ( Read more... ) -
