Well, Emma is 14. She's starting high school in the fall.
I had another baby! Fiona is 3 1/2.
I got promoted to Associate Professor and got tenure.
I was diagnosed with three autoimmune disorders this past year: Hashimoto's (thyroid), celiac, and interstitial cystitis. So I'm still struggling with those changes.
Emma is 14?! The time goes so quickly. I bet she adores her little sister. What a wonderful double, both smart and with great futures ahead, I have no doubt! I'm so very pleased for you, hon.
Also congrats on getting tenure. Don't laugh, or not much, but I first found out that tenure is a very good thing from an ep of 'Murder, She Wrote'. LOL!
I'm so sorry about the autoimmune disorders. I know a little about them from exposure to Diabetes T1, also an autoimmune disorder, as you know.
Dietary control helps many - a T1 diabetic can carb count and keep injections to a minimum - but thank heavens there are ways to control other conditions.
Thanks so much for the update. It's lovely to hear how you're progressing and makes me want to know more so I'll be logging on much more often. Really, thank you very much.
Welcome back!!!! So glad to see you again, I've missed you.
As for T2 diabetes, my brother was diagnosed with it as a kid, and has always controlled it through just diet and exercise. He doesn't eat sweets and sugary drinks, but otherwise eats a normal diet with carbs and fats and vegetables.
Hey you *waves* How lovely to see you here again. Sparrow and I have often talked about you and how sad we were that you had disappeared from LJ.
Well done on succeeding in loosing the weight. It amazes me that people are not more aware of the simple sum if calories in is greater than calories expended it equals more calories stored in the body as fat (and that it is carbs that provide the most easily stored calories).
You've always kept in touch, even when I was at my most difficult. I can't tell you how much that means. *loves*
But, it's not as simple as calories in, calories out. Oh, if only if were. *sob*
It's all about insulin. Have a protein and fat heavy meal, no response. Have a carb heavy meal, insulin kicks in and responds to the carb that isn't used as energy by laying down the excess as fat for future use.
It's a brilliant response in times of little food but we don't have that.
So sorry you've had such a rough time, well done in getting your weight down. Always hard when you are small. Sounds like you've found a diet that suits you and that's great.
Quite a few of us still here on good ol' Lj if you want to keep posting ;)

I'm sorry you had a such a rough time of it, sweetie.
*hugs*
I've missed you and am so glad to see your voice here.
Have you been reading or participating in fandom at all during this hiatus?

I've never stopped reading, usually J2 with a bit of Spander and Merlin/Arthur on the side. I need to dip into the communities to see what's new.
How are you? I'm working up to getting back into the swing and so sorry to have entirely failed to support my online friends.
*hugs*

No need to apologize, my dear.

Hey, you!
Hi hi hi!
:)
It's so nice to see you back! And to hear that you're doing well! I'm glad about that. :)
Good on you, trying the (hard) old-fashioned way to get healthy. Too many drugs out there.
I hope we see you around the ole' LJ more often, now!

Oh, sweetie, you're brilliant and you understand. Too many drugs around!
If only I'd caught on earlier that pizza and diet coke wasn't the ideal diet for a menopausal obese woman with self-esteem issues.
Not perfect but under control now. :)

Under control is good. So long as you feel good, that's what matters. :)

I feel brilliant. No more manic episodes, no more idiocy.
I felt comfortable replying to your post because you're not judgmental. You get it.

Well done to your brother for his control! It sounds as if he's very disciplined and, hopefully, has a meter to check his blood sugar levels.
It's more likely to be diagnosed with T1 as a kid.
