Every time I hear about how many jobs the government has created, I just cringe a little more and wonder if so many people have no idea how business works or where government money comes from.
I think I've made a step forward today. In looking around the web, I stumbled on an application known as Moodle. It's basically website in a package, but it is designed specifically for Learning Management Systems.
So, it looks like the text file option is not that much better in some respects. Basically I still need to know what the server will be running as the scripts to read/write/append a text file is still server-side.
A thought I had yesterday, and in talking with someone else they had the same suggestion, is that I may just be able to write the information to a simple text file that can then be recalled each time someone logs in. This would eliminate the database from the equation as long as I truly don't need much else than to more or less make a tick mark

Since I'm terrible about updating my journal, I'll try using it to chronicle my progress on two projects I'm doing for work this year.
