Lambs are so sweet. I had a great uncle who raised sheep (among other things), and he let me feed one of the lambs one time. He also scared me by telling me the bull in the next field was mean and would charge at red things. (I was wearing a red sweater.)
Nothing bad. Brownface had been a pet, and when we took him on Mr Snip said if we decided we didn't want him, to let Mr S know (as opposed to getting him "processed"), as he'd promised Brownface's original owners that No Harm would come to him. So he's probably gone to another comfortable home, but hopefully without orchard trees to destroy.
He had longer legs and a feistier nature than the other sheep, and was inclined to try and climb the trees. I think he was part goat :-)
He sounds like quite a character. I hope he finds a happy, permanent home, with lots of trees to climb.
Dunkie has tried to climb trees a few times when chasing squirrels. Unfortunately, he keeps forgetting he doesn't have opposable thumbs. (Our refrigerator is very happy about this.)
Yes, especially in the orchard. We have a man come around on a tractor to knock down the long grass in the parts without sheep, but we have daffodils in the orchard, and the sheep are very good about eating the grass but leaving the flowers. They also trim neatly around the fruit trees, which the guy on the tractor can't really do.
I can't fathom being hot right now. It's snowing again.
I thought New Zealand was paradise, but I've reassessed that opinion now that I'm aware of 90% humidity! We get extremely hot, but it's a dry heat, as they say!

I know I've been moaning about all this snow lately, but I'd really prefer it to the heat you guys have. Ick.

The idea of rolling in the snow is appealing just now.

I'm still fascinated by the fact that you have real, live sheep...is it mostly just to keep your lawn trim?

We don't have lawn as such :-)

It's just our part of NZ that's so very humid. I have dreams of retiring to a less humid part.
