community.livejournal.com/kradam_ai/425622.html As Adam was about to go out of earshot, a memory of Katy in the hospital bed came back to Kris. They had officially separated but they'd made a pact to stay good friends.
"Just promise me, Kris, that you won't let happiness pass you by." Memories would be the death of him, Kris thought. Or his salvation. He took a deep breath and called out Adam's name.
Adam turned and mouthed "What?" but walked towards him anyway.
Kris ran forward to close the distance between them and took Adam in another huge hug.
Again, Adam laughed, right up until Kris whispered, "I love you, Adam." And just to clarify he added, "I'm... I'm IN love with you."
Adam pulled back, looked at Kris and burst out laughing. "Nice joke, K." Kris saw Adam searching his face for any sense of humor, a smile maybe, or the crinkling of his eyes. He found none.
He stepped back, away from Kris, and Kris felt scared, nervous. Should he have just let it be?
Adam put his hands on his hips and stared at Kris for a while longer. "Damn it, Allen, are you serious? After all this time?"
"Let me explain, Adam." They walked to the benches and sat down. "I.... I was in denial and I just ... well, after I realized it, I guess I was just too scared." Kris stopped. He was shaking, and he had no idea what he was saying. It sounded like he was blathering on and on, even to his own ears.
But Adam just grabbed Kris's shoulders to steady him. He didn't say anything, just waited for Kris to gather his thoughts and continue talking.
"I know you don't feel the same way, Adam, I know you don't. I just... I guess I just had to tell you. So that, either way, I know I tried."
Kris looked up at Adam and was blown away by the intensity of Adam's gaze. Finally, Adam spoke.
"You are such an idiot, K," Adam said softly. "Why do you think I broke up with Drake?"
Kris's breathing stopped. Could Adam actually be going where he hoped he was?
Adam leaned in and softly pressed his lips against Kris's. Kris felt as if he was floating up in the air. All his dreams were coming true, and he couldn't be happier. Adam pulled away and hugged Kris again, tightly this time, as though he would never let him go.
"What a waste," Adam muttered, looking thoughtful. "All this time, we could've been doing something far more interesting during the tour than just hanging out."
Kris just pushed Adam gently, laughing. Adam always made him laugh.
"I love you, K," Adam continued, and Kris literally almost felt his heart explode. "Always have, always will."
Kris choked back some tears and hugged Adam tighter than before. "Don't you dare leave me again, K," Adam continued, smiling.
"I won't, Adam. I won't," Kris replied, pulling Adam into another kiss. And Kris knew, deep in his heart, that he wouldn't. The love, this love, would never fade.

Kris saw Matt grinning at him from here. His smile was so brilliant, and he knew his friend was genuinely happy for him. Matt had been ecstatic since day 1, seeing how happy it had made Kris. And Allison, Allison had been so happy for both Adam and Kris that she couldn't stop smiling whenever she saw them for the first few months of their relationship.
They'd all become so close over the past 4 years, the four of them were practically inseparable. Four years, Kris thought, a little amused that Adam had taken so long to propose.
Kris was now standing in front of all his family and friends. Katy was there, pregnant again with her first baby with a new husband. Kris was happy she was doing so well. He did feel a little twinge of jealousy, but that wasn't because he wanted Katy, that was simply because he still wanted a child. Kris remembered distantly Adam saying when they first met that he loved kids, but he'd never wanted any. So if having kids was something he had to give up to be with Adam, then of course he would. He was not going to let go of Adam Lambert ever again.
Perhaps ironically, given that Adam had proposed, Adam was the one with a maid of honor, Allison. Kris had decided to choose Matt to be his best man. Four years was really such a long time to get to know someone, and Matt had become one of his dearest friends. It was hilarious that when he'd asked Matt to be his best man, Matt had been so deliriously happy, he actually kissed Kris. On the cheek, but still. The others had teased him for days.
Of course, Kris had no problem saying yes to Adam , he had known for a long time that Adam was the one he would marry, for good this time. It was funny when he had asked Adam the reason it'd took him so long to propose, Adam had said he was waiting for Kris to do the proposing because, after all, he'd done it before. But Adam had just gotten impatient, so he had gone ahead and bought a ring. Kris had laughed and given Adam a long passionate kiss.
As soon as the ceremony was over, they had their first dance.
Kris rested his head on Adam's shoulder while they swayed to the music. It was slow music, and Kris remembered wishing the music would go on forever. This was THE best day of his life, no doubt about that. And it was all because of Adam. Kris kept looking into Adam's eyes, wondering how he got so lucky, it was as if he had the lottery. No, better than that, because he had gotten Adam Lambert. Kris didn't think he could be any happier than at this possible moment, until Adam leaned forward and whispered in his ear, still dancing along to the tune of the music.
"So. When are we adopting?"
