No luck on the job front for me, HOWEVER! My little brother just landed a full-time job working the desk at a hotel for 3rd shift. He knew a guy that worked there, helped him get his foot in the door. Alright, I finally got reassigned to a new case manager on Thursday. She helped me look for some entry-level computer technician (read: helpdesk) jobs and actually spotted a couple that weren't asking for certs or previous experience. No progress on the job or the help-for-IT-courses front yet. Getting ahold of my case manager is like trying to pull teeth. Teeth made out of jello, and slathered with grease.

Finally starting to get somewhere on the W.I.A.-for-school front. Met with my new case manager today and we worked out that I need a more developed plan than, "I wanna take this one class and you guys pay for it." Got some more info on the Greenville Tech's CompTIA classes, they sound like a winner. I might be able to get the fee paid off with via W.I.A. and the unemployment office, too. Also got a lead on a part time job (20 hours/week, $7.50 per hour) at the library as a clerk in the South Carolina Room. The requirements just say high school diploma, " ( Read more... ) -

Tri-County Tech, my old collegiate stomping grounds, have stopped offering CompTIA A+ certification courses in an actual classroom setting, and have moved the program to an online learning thing. On the one hand, this makes taking the courses super cheap (about $465 for all three exam prep classes). On the other hand, several points ( Read more... ) -
