Evening spent with a heat advisory in effect and a small child who wanted to run around outside like a maniac. Fun.

Mom had a heart cath this morning, and her heart's just fine. No damage, no blockages, all healthy tissue. We were all kinda worried when she failed her stress test yesterday.

But in need of a tune-up. Think I'll take it in before I leave for vacation. Works well enough though to whip out a new dress for Lily! I'm pretty pleased with myself- I butchered a hot pink sarong printed with white hibiscus flowers and, with no pattern, made a cute little sundress! I'm actually feeling the urge to start making things again. I want to mess with beads, I want to sew, I want to draw... all things I've had little to no interest in for a few years now. Taxes are done, and I'm getting more back than anticipated. So yay, I can take care of some things I've been putting off, as well put some funds in Lily's savings, replace my fossil phone, and still have some to sock away for emergencies. Turbotax online is happy ( Read more... )

So Lily borrowed my boffer battle axe today so she could team up with Catra to fight Decepticons...

There was work, so no corned beef and cabbage here, or anything else taking any amount of time to prepare. But there is Bailey's before bed.

I have to admit, I have a soft spot for classic Disney movies (quiet, Nicole). This is a good thing, as Lily is all about princesses. Fortunately she's all about robots and toy weaponry as well... this is the kid I caught playing guns with the neighbor boys while wearing a fairy princess tutu. So my mom was concerned that one of Lily's gifts might freak her out a little, until I pointed out the 3D skeleton decoration she played with like a doll until it fell apart. So yeah. Christmas day with the in-laws, and Lily made out like a bandit. Some presents stayed behind for her to enjoy there, since that's where she goes when I work. Sunday is the party with my family, that should be fun.
