Went to New York for a few days, stayed with Robert. Went into the city and saw a terrible show at the Guggenheim. There was a lot of empty space, and one piece was a coffee bar with free coffee. well, happy new year.

at midnight we were standing on crisp snow by the lake, in deserted lachine, listening to the fireworks and churchbells across the lake, and seeing the occasional burst of colour through the trees.

last year was characterised by frustration that bordered on despair. this year seems stronger already.

I think I'm a bit in love with Dan Savage. His column's pretty good, but what I really like is his podcast. I mean, I don't even care about the questions he gets, or his answers, or the subject matter. I just like to hear him talk. His whiny voice, all his swearing, the cadence of his speech. I find him so comforting. Is there anything wrong with
