Title: In his eyes, I find forever (12/13)
Pairings: Takabu (hinted/one-sided)
Warnings: A little too angsty at times?
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: Yeah...well...I wish I owned them! T_T, but I don't. *DREAM IS SHATTERED!*
Summary:The storyline starts from when the original Hey!Say!7 guest-starred on Shounen Club and moves on from there. It’s a Takaki-centric fic that follows him from the previously mentioned point on as he experiences the pros and cons of being one of the oldest members of the then-newly-formed Hey!Say!JUMP and his interactions with his new bandmates, particularly one Yabu Kota.

When he had seen Yabu finally break in Jin’s arms, Takaki felt a lot of things all at once. Sadness for Yabu’s tears, hatred at himself and Hikaru and Jin and Shoon and everyone who had let it happen, fear for what this would do to Yabu, determination to never let it happen again, resolve to never let anyone touch Yabu again, a lot of rather rational things.
What Takaki hadn’t expected was the sudden burning in his heart.
Not at Yabu, his entire body still shaking in Jin’s arms. Not at Hikaru, who couldn’t even move he was so distraught. Not even at himself for not being able to go to Yabu’s side like he should have.
But at Jin, of all people.
Takaki couldn’t even begin to explain it, that’s how weird the feeling was. But as he watched Jin, watched his fingers expertly smooth out Yabu’s brown hair, saw him whisper things that gained a teary laugh out of the younger boy, Takaki realized something: none of it seemed to sooth his nerves.
It just lit them on fire.
~~~~~~~
It got worse as the days went by.
Takaki didn’t know what made him so mad. It was Jin, after all. He had every Shokura with the man on DVD at home, every Hey3, every Music Station Live, everything. He had all the magazine clippings plastered on his wall. He had every single, every concert DVD, every album, even all of his solos on his iTunes. He even had Jin’s hair style for a while.
Simply put, Takaki Yuya idolized Akanishi Jin.
But it didn’t explain why he wanted to rip the posters to shreds as he watched Yabu and Jin happily walk off hand-in-hand after practice to go get some oden. It didn’t explain why he wanted to buy the singles on individual CD just to throw them against the wall and hear them shatter and imagine a sickeningly sweet little Jin-like scream of pain coming out of each and every one of them. It didn’t explain why he wanted to take a pair of trimmers to Jin’s body and… to put it nicely… eliminate things on the idol that didn’t just include his hair.
Sometimes, Takaki wondered if it was Ryo, not Jin, that he secretly took after.
~~~~~~~
Daiki and Inoo watched him a lot more these days.
It wasn’t because of Hikaru, no. Hikaru actually joined them in their little hobby, the younger boy nervously sitting on the edge of his seat watching him angrily voice the number of different ways he wanted to rearrange Akanishi Jin’s face as the KAT-TUN star gleefully twirled around and around with his kouhai firmly in his arms, Yabu trying and failing to reprimand his sempai without laughing hysterically.
“I don’t know what Yabu sees in him,” Takaki whispered fiercely. “Doesn’t Akanishi-sempai like Kamenashi-kun? Why is he trying to hone in on Yabu? And why on earth is Yabu letting him? Does he like him or something?”
“Yu-chan,” Daiki murmured back warily. “Yu-chan, are you really sure that it’s Akanishi-sempai that Yabu-kun likes?”
~~~~~~~~
Shoon was a surprise no one expected.
“Here,” the older boy murmured, shoving a bat into Yabu’s arms.
Yabu blinked. “What am I supposed to do with it?”
“Hit me.” Shoon replied. “Duh.”
The former Ya-ya-yah leader glanced down at the bat, up at Shoon, and then over at Jin. And without a word, crushed the shorter boy to his chest.
“Idiot,” Yabu replied, laughter filling his voice. “I forgave you ages ago.”
Takaki wasn’t quite sure why or how Inoo’s arms were suddenly around him, holding him firmly in place.
All he could see was a mental picture of the bat meeting Shoon’s head with a loud, resounding crack.
~~~~~~~~
He should have figured it would come to some sort of conclusion eventually.
“Tell Akanishi-kun and Yamashita-kun to stop coming to practice,” Takaki hissed, glaring daggers at Yabu as if asking, no, begging him to question his orders.
Yabu never disappointed.
“Why would I do that?” The older boy asked, both confused and firm at the same time.
“They’re disrupting practice,” Takaki replied. “If Akanishi-sempai’s not talking his head off about the latest concert with Yuto, then Shoon’s getting advice from Hikaru on how to get revenge on Hasshi for his latest prank. If Shoon’s not kicking Yama-chan’s butt at the latest Super Robot Wars game, then Akanishi-sempai’s terrorizing Ryutaro with the latest Nishikido horror story. And you’re always letting them. You never tell them once to just get out!”
“They’re not doing anything wrong, Takaki-kun, they’re watching the practices. They only do those things on break times. And they’ve been a real help. Ryo-chan and Yuto would never have gotten that dance move yesterday if Jin hadn’t been around to lend them a hand. And Shoon’s really helped Keito reach out of his shell. Yesterday, I heard that boy laugh, really laugh for the first time ever. And it was at one of Shoon’s jokes! Not even Hikaru’s been able to do that!”
Takaki wasn’t sure how it happened but suddenly, he had Yabu cornered against the wall. “You’re not getting the point!”
“No, you’re not getting the point,” Yabu hissed back. “What is about Shoon and Jin that you don’t like? I thought you idolized Jin! And that you and Shoon were at least friends!”
“That doesn’t excuse you trying to flirt with him at every turn!”
Suddenly, his back was against the wall, his cheek was red and painful, and Yabu’s eyes were filled with tears as he ran out the door, his final words still ringing in Takaki’s ears.
“Shoon isn’t the one I like, you idiot!”
~~~~~~~~
“You’re pretty dense, aren’t you, Yu-chan?”
His legs buckled against the wall.
“You’re the best, Takaki-kun.”
Pain coursed through his veins.
And Yuya, god, Yuya, I don’t deserve someone as wonderful as him.”
His body got more and more numb with each passing second.
“Just smile, Yu-chan, that’s all I’m asking.. The world seems a little bit lighter to the rest of us when you smile.”
A tear slid down his face.
“Yu-chan, are you sure that it’s Akanishi-sempai that Yabu-kun likes?”
How could I be such a fool?
A/N: Hey,
Just finished writing and posting this to the comms. So I figure I'll talk about it.
First, thanks to Kiyumi-chan for not only beta-ing but also putting this all in html for me. I wrote this fic in an hour just now and I would never have even had the inspiration if it hadn't been for her being there to bounce ideas off of. Thanks, Yumi-chan!
Now about the fic...
I read blahchiharu's latest yamajima fic and let me tell you, her writing really inspires me. So I guess that's how the style of this chapter came into play. It's a lot more of a series of drabbles than a full chapter this time around, which, coincidentally, is how I had originally planned to write this story before it started to really come together.
I love how this all came together. It wasn't at ALL how I imagined it last week when I had inklings of ideas but it got there and it really worked. I let a little bakanishi slip in with him randomly twirling Yabu around for no apparent reason. But not too much. I think America and that whole experience really chased the bakanishi out of him...I mean, have you seen his latest interviews? The boy is deep!
Shoon's back. That was a surprise, even to me. I never even knew how I was going to resolve that...and suddenly a bat came into my head. Huh. It worked though. It was the exact kind of cute that would make a strange but somewhat perfect apology (my best friend offered to do that very same thing once when we had been fighting).
And Takaki finally gets things. Took him long enough. I mean, Daiki got it before him. Wat? Wat? But then, 'Daiki's 17, not 13. People really should remember that someday'.
Well, who knows how this latest mess is going to get resolved? I don't. I just know how it's going to end. I has NO clue how it's going to get to said end.
Have fun figuring that one out!
