We met with the cake lady last night. She is going to do a beautiful job. Her name is Linda and she used to work with me. Did I mention that she used to be the head of the cake decorators at Busken? She and her husband are rather eccentric people, but it was worth redirecting the conversation to get this cake.

Thats awesome. How are you picking flavor and design? I dont even know where to begin.
When I called my cake lady she didnt even know who I was or have me booked in on her calender and we went round for two days trying to figure out why she didnt have any record of me when i talked to both her mom and her sister and her about doing my cake. We sorted it in the end though and Boy I hope she does a good job after that cause if it isnt any good I will be pissed!.

Well, we knew we didn't want a white cake. So ours is going to be blue. Then I was sticking with my beach theme and I looked on the internet and found a few examples and my cake lady looked at that and ran with it. It's going to have seashells on it. She specializes in white cake...so I went with that. There is no filling, etc. So my cake will be pretty plain, but there will be loads of other desserts.

I would be pissed! She didn't have any record of you? Did you finalize the design?

Yeah no kidding I was pissed. I kept my cool though and calmly called my mother and told her that she was going to go through the roof. Which she did. But we are booked now so no porblems I hope.
I am going to start looking at designs this weekend and mail her some pictures. I think I am going to keep it pretty simple, chocolate cake and buttercream icing, I think. No filling, although I love filling, but we will see what she says when I send her the stuff I am going to pick out. The difficult thing is that she doesnt have a website or email or anything so it is either phone or snail mail which isnt fun. At least Tim was easy to talk to.

Just a warning though- aim for soft oceany blue as opposed to primary color blue... blue icing makes your teeth, lips, hands, and clothes, well, blue. as learned from Sebastian's first B-day party :)
