He was greatly interested in what this ball was to consist of. He knew he shouldn't expect anything so extravagant as the gathering that had been prepared for him when he was to choose for himself a maiden to wed, and it was the only particular festivity he could recall thus far. It didn't matter ( ... )

At Pent's side, Louise was positively glowing with delight and excitement. The park's transformation was breathtaking, and she took in all the sights with her usual bright smile. She had chosen a traditional yukata to wear, as had many others that she could see. The clothing was different, but she had gotten used to it quickly, and was happy she had purchased it when she and Fate had gone shopping.

"Oh, it's so beautiful!" She beamed up at him as she wrapped her arm closer around his. "You flatter me as always, Lord Pent. Truly I'm the luckiest woman here, for you are with me."

"I would not be here otherwise, dearest. So long as you are beside me, we could be anywhere." He smiled at her, tilting his chin to kiss her forehead. "And I'm not sure how many times I've said so already, but it's amazing how radiant you can be even in such foreign attire. I admit, I feel a little mismatched standing beside you!"

And still he smiled, resting a hand over one of her's and squeezing it lightly. "I wonder if Erk has arrived already. I very much would like to meet the person he'd asked to accompany him."

"It would be cruel indeed to deny so many people your wonderful presence, milord." She leaned closer to him as he kissed her forehead, her smile growing brighter. "Please, you need not worry about feeling mismatched! I merely saw this when Lady Fate and I were shopping, and it caught my eye. I'm so happy that you like it!"

So Erk had found a date after all? Louise was relieved to hear it, but at the same time she was mildly saddened that he hadn't informed her of this. She supposed it was only fair after she had pressed him, but it didn't change the fact that she wished he felt comfortable enough to talk to her about such things. "Do you know who he asked? The last I heard, he had been turned down many times..."

Catherine wasn't waiting for Grif. From what she already knew of him, she got the impression that he wasn't all that punctual. As she approached the newly transformed park, she scanned the area twice; once for Grif's armor, once for anything that could be him.

She smiled to herself and smoothed her sleeve over her Pip-Boy. Her jumpsuit sleeve was cut to accomodate the device, but the yukata's sleeve ended just above where the device started. Somehow, having it in sight made her feel better than trying to cover it up.

Grif did indeed arrive late. He was kind of nervous about the whole thing, really. Not because of Catherine--Grif had the kind of confidence in his charm that only came from not having quite as much charm as he thought he did, and besides, it wasn't even really a date date--but simply because this was the first time he'd gone out in public without his armor since his unfortunate brush with mortality.

Of course, while the white shirt and black slacks he was wearing didn't provide much protection, the fact that the ball was crawling with potential witnesses did. So he ignored the vague queasy feeling he had and moseyed on over to Catherine when he spotted her.

"That looks better on you than the jumpsuit does."

She wasn't quite sure what to look for until she heard his voice. And as she turned to face him, she realized that she wasn't quite expecting anything at all.

Still, she smiled at the unexpected compliment. "Thanks. It's comfortable, but that's about it." A thought occured to her and before her mental filters could kick in, she gave him a bit of a grin and added, "I was almost wondering if you remembered how to take the armor off."

Grif shrugged it off. "Psch, of course I do. As much as it's a bitch to take off, it's a bitch and a half to sleep in, trust me. Makes it kinda hard to eat, too."

Cooro was, predictably, hanging around the food table. Often times he would pile up food onto a plate, but at the same time munch on the items selected, meaning that the furthest he got from the table was about three feet before he had to go back and get more. Still, the food was good, and he would be getting some memories and something back from home for all of this, making it a wonderful night indeed.

'Where there is food, there is Cooro,' Damian smirked as he approached, 'you're so damned predictable.' He stopped and stared at the precariously packed plate, and then blinked as the items quickly disappeared down Cooro's gullet. '...Huh.'

The ten year old picked up a plate of his own and started picking at the food with apparent disinterest. 'So, is there any item you can remember that you are hoping you get back after tonight?'

"Hi Damian!" Cooro said between mouthfuls. Either he didn't mind the comment or it went over his head entirely. It was a little difficult to tell with this kid.

"Not really, but it'll be kinda nice, y'know?" He replied before biting into some mysterious but quite delicious food item. "Ma'ee I' 'me'm so'm'in' 'ehn I 'e i'." He said, his mouth too full to make out the words completely.

((OOC: "Maybe I'll remember something when I get it", if Damian happens to be good at deciphering speech))

Damian blinked slowly as he attempted to parse that last sentence. He quickly gave up.

'Right...so, did you come to this thing by yourself?'

Mistral arrived punctually (even if her mun did not), wearing a newly purchased yukata with a star pattern on it. After some serious debate, she had decided not to go with any fancy ornaments, and instead left her hair down as it usually was. Pink, she decided, was awfully difficult to match with clothes sometimes.
"Wow, looks great!" she said, mostly to herself. "As always, the Island is full of surprises~!"

Gaignun wasn't far behind in a dark blue yukata to boot. He wasn't too sure about the traditional garb - a far cry from the suits he typically wore - but seeing a good portion of the population wearing similar clothing was comforting, at least.

"I'm not sure whether you're commenting on the ball itself or your choice of attire," he began, "but I agree nonetheless. Thank you for coming."

"Heheh~ No problemo! It's more fun this way, isn't it?" She asked brightly. Turning to scan the area, she quickly spotted some nearby bamboo, along with the tags meant to be hung on their leaves. "Hey, want to write wishes on the tanzaku before we do anything else?" She suggested. "We wouldn't want to forget to make wishes~!"

"I wasn't aware that there was wish-making involved," he mused allowed. Tanabata was a largely foreign holiday to him, but as he recalled some of the memories from the Kukai Foundation, the concept of a holiday seemed largely foreign to him. He never did take much time for himself.

"Perhaps I should have given it a bit more thought, but sure, we can do that."

"It's so beautiful!" Flonne exclaimed, her hands clasped together in delight. Even if there hadn't been the reward of memories and an item, she would have still attended. After all, it was a ball in celebration of two (literally) star crossed lovers reuniting for the first time in a year...! You couldn't get more romantic than that. Bringing her palms together swiftly in prayer, she murmured a few words, mostly about Hikoboshi and Orihime. "...And may they meet again safely this year. Amen."

Amen. A word he hadn't heard for thousands of years. chaos turned his head to see who spoke the words... and smiled to himself when he saw the usual suspect. "Flonne. You seem to be enjoying yourself well enough."

"Hm?" She turned to the silvery-haired boy. "Oh! Hello, chaos! It's very lovely here, isn't it?" She said happily.

"Yes, it is. I didn't think the weather was going to hold out for such an event." Had chaos been expecting normal weather, that might have been true, and while he was expecting it to follow a usual pattern, part of him just knew that the island wouldn't settle for anything else. "Good thing I was proven wrong."
