One of the many reasons why I have bad pets instead of nice, well-behaved ones...
Is that when the people with the nice, well-behaved ones come across their pets doing something bad, they reprimand them in some way, setting the limits for what's allowable behavior, whereas I... well, I tend to go and find a camera and take pictures instead! Odd question for those who know either Scottish (and perhaps other places nearby) slang...
or at least I assume it's just in Scotland or perhaps Northern England, since I've never heard it before now anywhere else. ;) But what does saying the 'back end' of something mean? For example, in the book I'm reading (set in Edinburgh), they keep saying things like something happened at the back end of six (or some other hour)... is that just ( Read more... ) -
