We've been watching a series on DVD called 'People Like Us'. We first heard of this some years ago when it was a radio series, then they brought it out as a TV series. If you have seen 'The Office' then you've an inkling of the way it works (and some of the actors are the same as the English version). But it isn't the same show by any means ( Read more... )

I've just uploaded a collection of short stories and poems to smashwords.
It is called Where Sheep May Safely Graze because one of the longer stories is called that.
There are several about cats, especially our (departed) cats and there's some NZ culture/history buried in there as well.

Around this time of year the houses in Franklin Road (which is just a few steps away from our apartment) decorate with Christmas lights. It is worth a walk up there to take a look and we did it this evening. Some houses go over the top, some do very little and one or two don't join in at all. Happy St Dagobert's Day!!

Unfortunately we've had heavy rain today so the parade was a bit muted. There were a few people waving at the floats going by and they've got liquorice spears this year. I'm not sure I approve but the kids like them. Still, it's always nice to celebrate something at this time of year.
