My girlfriend called the other night. We spoke very briefly, because her phone was dying.

I've finally gotten around to taking stuff out of the library. The first thing I got was Stephen King's On Writing. And it's good and stuff. It's going a long way towards making the work less scary. I'm going to have to spend all day babysitting the people I just trained in archive procedure. I can work in the public sector - I have to - but it's draining sometimes.

Just watched The French Connection last night. Not entirely sure what the big deal is about it as a movie - for a Best-Picture-winning, AFI-Top-100-making film, I didn't think it was all that special other than the fact that it's a seventies cop movie where the bad guys don't all get it in the end.
