We'd like to keep the comments to vivian's entries in-character as much as possible; it's more fun that way, and more "real" for those playing along ( Read more... )

After Erago came out and I saw what a disaster that was, I'm fearing this one too. I may not even be able to stomach watching it once it comes to the movie channels. So many changes. So many. I hate it when people do shite like this.

well, you could always wait for the dvd and rent it and then watch it in french with subtitles and just pretend that it is a foreign movie that only coincidently matches some cool book that an english author wrote.

I agree with the majority -- there were too many unwanted changes from book to screen. It's definately NOT the book, so why try to pass it off as such? Give it a new name. Take Annette Curtis Klause's name off the script and you have a brand spankin' new thing. That's how different they made it. I'll wait until it hits video.

I guess I'm like a lot of other people- I really liked the book when I read it, and I almost wish they'd changed the title of the movie, because it sounds so different. But it still sounds like a movie I'd like to see, so this seems to have been a good idea on the marketing people's part, at least as far as I'm concerned. :)

Well if you think about it... invaderkay January 18 2007, 04:12:23 UTC
I don't know if anyone's posted something similar to this already but I'm going to say it anyway.
If you think about it it makes sense - the changes they made I mean. As far as money goes, they figured they would make more if they made it a little more "adultish"; making then older, changing the setting and story a bit, adding explosions (lol)
It's all just to make more money and to make it look more adultish and draw an older more mature audience.
Don't get me wrong though! I love the book to death, but like so many others have said on here also, I'm going to treat it as two different things entirely. All in all, I will most likely like the book more. But hey, I haven't seen too many werewolf movies and it's exciting to see that they are at least making a movie about this book.

First things first, it did say in the credits of Eragon (since it was also mentioned) it was insipred by, so if this movie uses that ill be willing to give it a little more led way. For another thing i didnt think that it was all that childish no more then the harry potter movies and those have done really well if your ignore goblit of fire ( ... )
