Chapter 5

“Akanishi?”

“Akanishi Jin?” Another call from Hyde sensei, checking the class attendance in the process.

“He’s absent.” Kame answered and most of his classmate averts their inquisitive looked at him. “Well, he’s not in his seat as you can see.” He then answered from the query looks around him.

Kame doesn’t really know why Akanishi suddenly didn’t want to go to school.

~+~

“Let me do that.” Kame told the taller boy who’s been preparing their breakfast. “You should take a bath now, really fast. We're gonna be late at school if you do not hurry up.”

“I won’t go to school.” Akanishi said never leaving what he’s been doing.

“Why?” Kame was staring at the boy. “Are you sick?” Well, he doesn’t really look sick to Kame but there’s got to be a reason.

“No, I’m not sick. I just don’t feel like it, now, why don’t you take your seat. It’ll be ready soon.”

“Ohayou~ futaritomo.” Kamenashi-san greeted the two boys where his son’s wearing his girl uniform. He took his seat while captivating the appetizing smell of the food.

“Ohayou gozaimasu Kamenashi-san.” Akanishi greeted back.

“Ohayou oyaji.” Kame said then he took his own seat.

“Akanishi-kun, why’re you still wearing your pajamas? You’re going to be late in school. You shouldn’t really have to cook breakfast you know; we can eat cup noodles for a change sometimes.” Kame’s father said.

“Ah, no. Please don’t worry about it too much. I really wasn’t planning on going to school for today.”

“Yeah, he said he just don’t feel like it.” Kame said emphatically.

“Whatever. But don’t get used to it, kozou.” Kamenashi-san commented.

The old man has left and Kame was having his final check with his bag when it was suddenly snatched by the taller boy. He placed Kame’s obentou inside. Kame stared at him, raising one of his perfect plucked eyebrows.

He snatched back his bag and he carefully placed the obentou inside. “I told you, you don’t have to do this. It’s not something that you’re obliged to do; besides I can buy something from school cafeteria.” He then said.

“What? Bread and something which is not so healthy for your launch? You’re too skinny, you should eat more nutritious food and besides I’m enjoying doing this, so don’t bother from it too much.” The brown haired boy remarked.

“You’re acting like a wife...err...I mean a mother.”

“Or you mean, the other way around.” The taller boy muttered with the tone of taunting.

Kame’s face reddened. Why does he even say those freaking comment. He knew what the taller boy’s implying, of course Akanishi couldn’t be a wife or a mother for any matter and obviously, Akanishi thought he is a she, so he’s implying that he was supposedly the wife or something. But he wasn’t the one acting like one.

“But I’ll surely love if you’ll make obentou for me - that is, if you managed to learn how to cook.” The taller boy continued.

“Like hell I do that, I didn’t mean something stupid, ba-ka, like I said, you were acting like one.” Kame said emphatically.

So as for today, Kame would be going to school alone. Alone... It somehow feels different now that he was used to go to school with the taller boy.

Yes, everything felt different - or somehow back into places.

He went to school as early as always, but today, all by himself. He was silently reading his book inside their classroom, seemingly waiting for the rest of his classmate, from the quiet surrounding until the silence gradually fades away as the arrival of the students one by one. No one’s paying attention to him, but then he seemed not to care for them either.

He probably was checking the taller boy beside his seat from one corner of his eyes - if the boy was present. He would probably be busy watching the Akanishi-fanatics from their stupid show off’s, but not this time. He wonders why does the taller boy suddenly decided not to go to school. Does he have another plan for today? Then what is it? They’re practically together through out the day for more than a month now. Maybe they weren’t as close as he thought after all. He realized he doesn’t even know anything about Akanishi Jin. He never tried asking the taller boy about personal matters, for the reason that he couldn’t tell the other boy the things about him either.

Apparently, Kamenashi felt the day took a lot longer than any other day. He just wanted to go home as soon as possible.

~+~

“Tadaima!” Well, Kame was expecting someone would welcome him home, like the man of the house had just arrived which is him and his wife, wearing her - err, or his apron - coz’ he was thinking Akanishi is the wife who would’ve approached him and then greeted him ‘O-kaeri-nasai!’ --Oh well, maybe not. He chuckled from his stupid thought. But then no one bothered to welcome him after all.

“Are...?” Kame saw there were someone else’s shoes outside the main door, removing his in the process. ‘Do we have an unexpected visitor? Who could it be...?’

He went inside, straight to the living room but no one was there furthermore, he didn’t saw Akanishi either.

He was standing outside the taller boy’s bedroom, attempting to knock on it but having the second thought in the process. Maybe Akanishi was actually expecting the sudden visitor from the very start, that’s why he didn't go to school today. But who could’ve that be? Judging from the pair of shoes he saw, the person could have been a man. “Is it his father? Probably. And now they were having some private conversation inside Akanishi’s room, so I better not ruined the moment.” Kame thought and decided to proceed to the next room.

~+~

Kame slams his back to the chair where he was sitting. He took a prolonged exhausted sigh after indulging himself on studying. He looked at his watch. It’s time to prepare the dinner, “But what if Akanishi was still talking to his father or who ever it may be, and he totally forgot preparing our food?” “-wait...” He slams his hand against his forehead, “I kinda sounded like Akanishi was somewhat our slave... I’m so evil...” He whimpered.

Kame decided that Akanishi shouldn’t be preparing the dinner for tonight. He knew he sucks at cooking but then aside from the taller boy, no one could do the cooking but him. He stood up and went outside his room towards the kitchen.

He doesn’t really have to. He saw Akanishi at the kitchen, already working on it, with someone - some guy. The guy was hugging the taller boy from the side, his chin was on Akanishi’s shoulder, lips were pouting like an idiot but he has a good looks. ‘Who’s that guy...? They seemed quite familiar to each other.’ Kame asked inside his head before continuing his step toward the dining table.

The two averted their gaze to him as he took a sit.

“Hi.” Kame greeted the two. “Did I disturb you?” he smiled innocently.

“No, not at all.” Akanishi replied. “You’re actually in time, you see, I prepared the dinner in ahead of time because this glutton,” pertaining to the pouty lip guy, “were asking me a dinner a dozen of times.”

“Sou. But you don’t have to explain.”

“By the way, he’s my friend.” Akanishi introduced the guy beside him.

“Hajime mashite. Yamashita desu~ but you can call me YamaPi.” The new guy bowed his head.

“Or better yet, YamaPig, much suitable.” Akanishi commented.

“Yeah right, coming from BAKAnishi, was that supposed to be funny?” batted a mockingly looked at Akanishi.

“Doumo.” The black haired girl stated, stressing the word so that the two averted their gaze at him, he continues, “Kamenashi Kazuya desu.” Kame said with a small bow. “Where’s oyaji?”

“He hasn’t come home yet.” Akanishi replied, “Perhaps he’s working over ti-” Akanishi stopped when they heard the main door opened, “...or not.” He said after the old man was already within his sight.

“Oh. How rare, we have a visitor.” The old man muttered, surprised. “Welcome to our house. I’m Kazuya’s father.” He continues.

“Hai. Doumo Arigatou.” This YamaPi bowed deeply to show some respect to the old man. “Boku wa Yamashita Tomohisa desu, yoroshiku onegashimasu!” he made a bow again.

“What a nice kid and good looking too.” Kamenashi-san remarked.

The visitor beamed his wide grin with appreciation from the compliment. “Oh, Dou-mo. You’re a handsome man as well Kamenashi-san.”

“Hontou ni?” He grinned, scratching his head, “A-ha-ha! You’re such an honest kid.”

Kame rolled his eyes. ‘What the hell this two baka were saying? Throwing stupid remarks.’ He sighed.

“Let’s eat!” Akanishi stated, placing the food above the table. The boy with a cheeky smile helped him to set the table.

“That’s a good idea.” Kame uttered.

~+~

The bell rung. It’s lunch time. Akanishi walked out first but he just leaned his back outside the classroom wall, as usual he was waiting for Kame so that it would look like they were going to have their lunch together, but that was all a facade to let other think they were really together. They had never ate lunch together - they practically walked out together, far enough they’re sure no one noticed they parted ways after. [a/n: too much ‘together’ ne. warui]

It all started after Kame realized he should show some gratitude towards the taller boy. As a guy, it was obvious for him to perceived what things Akanishi hated when they apparently having the same perception.
Kame’s done stuffing back his notes inside his bag and bringing out his bentou box. He stood up and finally taking his step outside the classroom, where he knew Akanishi constantly waiting ‘til he gets out.

They started walking. They went downstairs and there they took their own pathways. Kame kept on walking when he suddenly noticed someone’s been following him. ‘Who is it...?’ He doesn’t want any intervention nor freaking questions such as “Where’s Akanishi?; Are you eating alone?; Aren’t you two inseparable?...” There was a pause in his train of thought when he thought the word ‘inseparable’. When does he think the two of them were inseparable? He shook his head attempting to rub out the thought. He carefully turned his head to find who’s been following him once and for all.

He abruptly halted and batted a query look at the person behind him, and then he looked around trying to find if there were people who also followed them. When he hadn’t spotted anyone, “What are you doing?” he finally asked.

“Walking?...” Akanishi replied sarcastically.

“I can see that, moron. Why are you still following me?”

“You ask too many questions. I’m starving so let’s just start eat our lunch together.” The taller boy muttered. He then took a step ahead.

“Together...?” The boy in a girl uniform asked bewilderedly.

Akanishi stopped and then sighed. He turned to Kame and grabbed the smaller boy’s hand. Kame tried to reason but he decided not to and just followed the boy leading.

Eating with Akanishi was always feels relaxed yet discomforting, particularly at this moment where they could be seen as a couple.

“Why you’d suddenly want to eat here with me?”

“You’re still in your questioning-mode aren’t you?” Akanishi mumbled while masticating the food in his mouth. “Well it’s not totally enticing eating alone, don’t you agree?”

“I can eat whatever the situation is.” Kame then drinks his milk.

“Aaaahh-” Jin demanded the girl in front to open her mouth to accept the food he offered on his chopstick.

“What are you doing?” Kame raised a skeptical eyebrow.

“I thought you said you can eat under any circumstances, then what if I feed you?” The brown headed boy grinned.

“Don’t understand things the way you wanted it and I’m not your dog.”

“Of course you’re not. You’re my girlfriend.” Akanishi said then smiled.

A blush peeks on Kame’s face. “That’s just a front act,” He started, “...and right now no one can see us so you can drop this freakin’ show of yours.” - Yes, this was just Akanishi’s show and he shouldn’t be affected by the brown haired boy’s act.

“Not after you eat this one...” Akanishi waved the chopstick in front of Kame’s face.

“You’re disgusting. You want me to eat with the chopstick you were using...? That’s gross.” The truth is Kame wasn’t that picky.

“That’s alright, and this is not disgusting, this is what they called indirect kiss, ne.”

“You’re a freak!” Kame frowned from disbelieving.

“Whatever.” Akanishi muttered. “Now eat this, my arms started to get numb.”

This is so like GAY... Kame thought but he did so anyway.

~+~

Ever since Akanishi and Kamenashi had been rumored being a couple, Minami gave up asking the bishounen brown haired boy to possibly go out with her - well she hadn’t really gave up the idea, it’s just that it seems impossible because the two were inseparable. But some thing's quite not right. She had always watched the rumored couple from the corner of her eyes, and from what she observed, she believed the two were not as close as they were supposed to be.

Is there really something in between the two of them...? Minami asked herself as she watched the seatmates behind, reading their own books. It was typical of her gazing at Akanishi, as well as the other fangirls drooling at the brown headed bishounen, only this time she wasn’t drooling but merely observing. She brought to her mind those moments she saw Akanishi waiting for the short haired Kamenashi either lunch time or going home each day as the boy never ceased to walk Kame-chan home.

But they were never been seen talking to each other, never been seen being all that sappy the real couple should be. And why is that...? Minami suddenly thought. She wanted to know, she wanted to find the truth behind what she thought wasn’t reasonably right.

At the end of the class, as usual, Akanishi went home with his rumored girlfriend. Minami decided to pursue after them.

She’s been silently following the rumored couple as her attention fixed on them to the extent that she hadn’t noticed the one tailing behind her, observing what suspiciously she’s been doing.

There were lots of different stores, pachinko, and other stuff along the way. Akanishi suddenly took hold onto the smaller boy’s hand and drag him in the direction of a certain store.

Kame was a little surprised but he didn’t pull his hand from the taller boy’s hold. They went inside the bookstore. They stopped in front of some bookshelves unbeknownst to him what category of books piled on it.

“Are you planning on buying something?” Kame asked the brown headed boy whose now opened one particular book.

“We’ve been followed.”  Akanishi hissed.

“What?!” Kame tried to ask in a low tone. Who is it? He attempts to look who’s been trailing them.

“Don’t turn your head!” The taller boy ordered, “I think we’re still being watched.” He looked at Kame who was now staring at him.

“Who’s following us?”

What are they talking...? Minami asked herself as she trying to hide from some pile of books not too far from the two she’s been quietly chasing.

“It’s Minami.” Akanishi answered.

“How did you know?”

“I got a glimpse of her when we passed a certain glass door which reflecting the image in front like a mirror.”

“So, what do we do now?”

“We’re going to get rid of her.”

“How?”

They can actually converse but why doesn’t they talk to each other in school...? Are they really together...? Minami thought as she continuously watched the two but never heard the conversation.

Akanishi leaned closer to the short black haired girl.

“What are you doing?” Kame said as he stepped back.

“Getting rid of her.” He answered casually. He again moved forward and swiftly placed his one hand around Kame’s waist.

Kame tried to pull himself away but was stopped by the hand pushing his back closer. “What do you think you’re-” His sentence was stopped when the taller boy crushed his lips onto his. His eyes got widened. He felt his heart skipped from its beating. Is he dreaming? No... This isn’t a dream anymore. It was merely an act and they were crossing the line. They’re not a real couple not to mention they’re both male! He couldn’t allow this to happen. He tried to escape from the kiss by pulling his head away but it was easily pushed back by another free hand of the taller boy.

The book Minami was holding to hide her face was suddenly dropped unknowingly. She was frozen watching the scene she couldn’t imagine to happen. They were kissing...in front of me... They’re really... The tears fall down to her cheek unnoticeably.

The kiss becomes more passionate. Kame was lost from the sensation the kiss giving him he couldn’t help but moan and that gives an opportunity for the taller boy’s tongue slips into his mouth. Kame was brought back into reality as he had a glimpse of the one following them.

Minami wanted to escape from the sight but she couldn’t move a single muscle of her body. The scene was tearing her heart into pieces but her eyes were fixed she couldn’t even turn her head away... But there was someone abruptly blocked the view. Minami’s eyes were placed by the eyes directly staring at her.

“Yu...” She called.

“Wait...” Kame muttered as he tried to push the taller boy before he once again lost in oblivion.

“What?” Akanishi hissed.

“Yoko-san is here.”
