Happy holidays!
Two months into our Great Midwest Adventure, and I'm feeling really happy. Life here is good, and I feel lucky to be in this space, physically and emotionally, after the roller coaster of the last year. Happy 4th!
Happy 4th of July everyone! We are watching the Boston Pops on TV, but we will be watching the fireworks from our balcony. Although our apartment is a bit far from the Esplanade, our line of sight is good, so we can still see them from the distance. With the radio or TV on, we can hear the music too ^_^ -
Some thoughts on recent reading
While I enjoy the poems of Bob Hicok I've read, I haven't felt deeply moved by his poetry. Comment on the Draft NIH Human Stem Cell Guidelines (deadline May 26, 11 PM EST)
Was reading Neil Gaiman's blog and came across his post on stem cell research (May 17th). The NIH stem cell research guidelines are up and open for online comment until May 26th, and apparently the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has launched a anti-stem cell research campaign, so far successfully--according to a CareCure forum post, ( Read more... ) -

Another acceptance!
I had my poem "Another Life" accepted by Fugue, the literary magazine of the University of Idaho. Publication number 2! It tastes particularly sweet after the bitterness of two recent rejections. -
Everything Asian
I got to hear an old acquaintance from NYU, Sung J. Woo, read from his debut novel Everything Asian at the Boston Public Library today. As Kirkus Reviews describes it, "cleverly concatenated stories about the experience of Korean immigrants make up Woo’s loosely structured novel." Three years ^_^
To the love of my life, happy three-year anniversary! I'm sure the next three years and all the ones after will be richer and even more wonderful. Probably more eventful too, though it is mind-boggling to contemplate. But health and happiness to us!
