yesterday afternoon a building down the street from our apartment caught fire. the doorman said the fire started at three in the afternoon, but the flames were high when I came home at five, and they didn't go down til after dark. we watched it from our balcony, eating dinner. I walked through this area last night on my way to meet GwenFriends jon shalvi and eve. it's a wonderland for punks, gays and bikers (punk gay bikers?), sort of a hard-core dupont circle, or adam's morgan in leather and drag. this site -- goodtree.com -- looks really interesting. I made it my home page, figuring it can't really hurt to try it, and it's neat, it lets you set up links to sites you use frequently. and gives money to charities at the same time...it seems. give it a look, let me know if it seems legit to you. -
