Tibet is a very odd place. On the one hand it doesn't feel "repressed" as such, wandering around it. At the temples and things there are plenty of Tibetan pilgrims with their prayer wheels and yak butter and so on, practising a freedom of religion they didn't have 20 years ago. My dad's had a stroke. He's in intensive care. No idea what's going to happen; haven't been to see him or spoken to any doctors yet. It's a bleed though which is worse than a clot.

He's only 60 and normally incredibly healthy for a guy his age. This is not fair.

And you know you've been doing too much medicine and reading Tolstoy at the same time when you can't remember if Niemann-Pick is a disease or a line drawn on a wartime map somewhere. For future reference, it's a disease.
