So I always say, at the end of the season, "it is never a good idea to waterski in November".

So we never get trick-or-treaters, because our house is on a street which is really unpromising - houses fairly far apart, fairly far set back, and only on one side of the road. This time we didn't even buy any candy. If anybody comes, they're going to get $3/bar fancy fair trade chocolate. I'm betting I get to keep my chocolate.

As I posted earlier, the house has mice.

We seem to have discouraged the downstairs mice, as we haven't seen any evidence of them for a while. However, they seem to have just gone upstairs. So the cortisone shot didn't really work for my shoulder. It's still hurting. So now we're going have an MRI, scheduled for Nov 9. I guess I'll just have to find different ways to sleep until then and for an unknown amount of time after that while my ortho decides what, if anything, can be done to help me.

Note to self: do not forget to sign up on the bay area fastrak website BEFORE you return your rental car. Because, you can only pay tolls until the future, and so I have just signed up to pay my toll over the weekend, and also tolls by whoever rented the car next until right now. It turns out that it's so modern, that it really really really wants to figure out some other way to produce sound than it talking. About six years ago, according to my blog, I had "frozen shoulder", for which I got an x-ray guided cortisone shot, which was somewhat unpleasant. It didn't really solve my problem, and so I got a second cortisone shot for tendinitis (less unpleasant), and then my problem was all better.

I am in California. I have the world's worst rental car. Sometimes when I am going to see my mom, if it turns out that it doesn't cost much more for a compact SUV, I go for it, because it's so much easier to get her in and out of such a car with a high front seat, and usually that gas mileage hit is not all that huge - they get in the low 30s, and ( Read more... )

Normally when I start a post with "the boat is broken" it's not a good thing, but this time it's "the boat is broken-in"! We've gone the requisite 10 hours, and we actually did follow the rules, pretty much.
