I got the sim for my iPhone, and got it enabled with my phone number! I'm still working on customizing it to my liking. I have a lame plan (I just recharge it with $100 periodically, and pay per minute/text/megabyte), and thus I do not like my apps to use mobile data. My iPhone came yesterday. It was supposed to come on Friday, but thanks to the US Postal Service, it was late.

I've been playing with it on Wi-Fi only for a little bit, kind of getting used to it and installing some apps like from my bank, and decided that now would be a good time to try putting my sim in.

I picked up the boat yesterday with the new motor! A thing of beauty. It's white, and the boat is off-white, so it makes the boat look dirty.

So now there's the drive around slowly part. So, I emailed the moms club, and said "anybody's kids want a slow boat ride?" I got four families interested, and gave them each about a half an hour ride. ( Read more... )

I called boat places about repowering, and one of them actually had the motor that we were thinking might be best based on online research. For somewhat less money than we had been quoted in the spring (though still substantial). So we are going for it!

I did it. I joined the Apple ecosystem. I have just purchased an iPhone 12 mini. It arrives Friday. Advantages: it will be modern, fast, and just work. Disadvantages: it costs a lot, I have to learn all the iPhone things, and probably there's some horrible privacy invasion that I've forgotten about. (Can't be worse than Google though right?)

I took Perry to college this afternoon. We briefly toyed with taking the commuter rail, but he really did have a lot of stuff so we took the car. We arrived at our assigned move-in time, he checked in, got his Covid test, got his ID and keys, and we found his dorm.

So little while ago I dyed one third of my hair the usual red/pink/purple ("every shower an adventure"). My plan worked, and when I braided it, one strand was pink. So, the other day I tried to make another strand a different color. I used some leftover blue that hadn't been very dramatic, and so it isn't very dramatic, but it kind of did work.

We decided to try skiing behind the untrustworthy boat. It was difficult to get going, but it did eventually pull me at some partial power (but enough for me to ski). But then it decided it was done for the day, and would not pull Ken. If we try this again, he will get the first crack. I really need to call some boat places about repowering!

So I earlier wrote about my useless cat in regards to mice. Since then, we got a have a heart trapped that actually worked and trapped the mouse, and meanwhile, the cat actually caught a mouse also, which surprised us to no end.

So, the boat was out of the water because of Henri, so last weekend Ken put the muffs on it with the hose (this puts water into the intake and enables you to run it in the driveway for testing), and with some fussing, he was able to get it to idle.
