I like how Kitayama is seemingly subservient but yet has a will of his own and shows his pride and defiance in a different way.

also, I can't put my finger on it exactly but you really make it seem like one of those chinese historic dramas. the environment the atmosphere, the way they talk... it's so easy to picture! (especially "A wise monk once told me that no man can be a hero who doesn't understand loneliness.") even if you don't describe things in detail, my mind picture the room the city, even them wandering in the wild very clearly. *v*
