House fic?

A wee double-drabble House-ficlet, just to get the thing out of my head.

Why, yes. It is exactly 200 words. )

Hee! Is it just my usual bias leading me to think that Chase takes longer because he keeps getting distracted by all the cool information he comes across that isn't technically related to whatever he's there to research? Because that's a problem I know well.

I love the uselessness of Foreman's not going beyond the bounds of the ordinary research of his specialty. He really does seem to be the one least inclined to suggest non-related ideas, doesn't he?

Heh. That would be my take on it. I see both Chase and House as people who like to know things simply to know them. If it's interesting, they absorb it, regardless of how useful it may or may not appear to be at the time. I keep thinking of the ep when Chase pops up with such oddly random knowledge about WWII-era flashbulbs. Granted, I think it did have something to do with some of his father's research, but I still love that he read something so utterly unlikely to ever be useful and remembered it until it was.

Sometimes I think they almost go out of their way to remind us that Foreman is a neurologist. And that Cameron is an immunologist. Both of them still seem very tied to their specialties despite their broader scope of responsibilities as part of House's team. I like that Chase gets a slightly wider range of medical interests, possibly due to the fact that his specialty is "keeping really sick people alive". *g* Somehow, that just seems to naturally require a more flexible mindset.

Dr. Chase brings back fewer of the requests, it takes him longer than either of his colleagues, and his supplemental research is completely unpredictable - not necessarily from the most recent or popular journals, often wildly obscure.

That's soo very Chase...

I'm so glad it looks like there are a few more people with this particular bias. :)
