Today work finally begins to replace the damaged windows and doors from the fire back in August. I am so excited to have this part done, because that means next comes the new siding and shutters. It's still so strange to go in the back yard and see the melted shutters and siding hanging off the house in sheets. I keep having dreams about the ( Read more... ) -

Things are slowly settling down around here. My mother-in-law had her kidney removed a week ago and is healing uneventfully. The surgeon has decided to refer her to an oncologist after all, for possible radiation/chemotherapy. She's had to change her blood pressure medication, because the old medication was hard on her kidneys, and we have to ( Read more... ) -

It's a beautiful day today! Lovely weather for our group run, and thanks to some great ladies who paced me, I was able to finish 9 miles in just under 2 hours. And I ran all of it except one big hill! Of course, now I'm wiped out, but it's worth it ( Read more... ) -

I've not been around LJ much lately. Lots going on in my world. Work is...well, it's WORK! I've got a student with me this year; I'm trying hard to be a good influence and let her see what pediatric speech therapy is really like. It's been an eventful week. Early Monday morning, the shed in our back yard was hit by lightning during a thunderstorm. We heard the lightning strike, and knew it was nearby, but didn't look around the neighborhood. Pebbles kitty is home! She seems to feel okay; still not eating, and I won't get the results of her bloodwork and urinalysis till sometime tomorrow afternoon. She's enjoying sitting next to me while I check email and LJ. I really missed her! -

Getting ready to go help eldest pack up her rental house in order to temporarily move back home with us. She's going to graduate school in Denver, CO, in September. We'll move her out there at the end of August, and she'll start classes and a work study job right after Labor Day. I'm so proud of all that she's been able to accomplish: She's ( Read more... ) -
