So I'm sitting in the Oakland airport right now, trying to get back to Des Moines from California. My flight was delayed, and then outright cancelled already. Le grrr.... I had to drive to Iowa City today from Des Moines. There was a blizzard on Sunday, but it didn't strike me as all that bad. Unfortunately I got about half way to Iowa City and the roads turned to ice. Honestly, I lost count after 200 cars in the ditch along the interstate! So what is normally a 2 hour drive took me 6 hours. Oy....

So after much thought, I have decided to stay here in Des Moines rather than take the offer in DC. It's just better for me financially and career-wise to remain where I'm at for the moment. There are two openings that I'll apply for this year...one in Lawrence Kansas and one in Chicago. I would love the job in Chicago, so we shall wait and see ( Read more... )

So I was in an automobile accident today dammit. I was turning out of the parking lot of my favorite grocer, and unfortunately the view of an oncoming car was blocked by one of those massive diesal guzzling SUVs that people like to drive. Don't worry...it wasn't a circuit event or anything like that, but instead was a fund raiser for scholarships for gay kids heading off to college.
