even though I feel differently. Voicing your opinion is one of the ways we exercise our rights and show what it means to be an American ( ... )

I also respect everyone's views, as long as they don't scream at me for mine as well. This country was based on FREEDOM, and SPEECH is one of them. I have watched so many actually attacked for their views, either way--all should be taken into perspective.

I grew up with a very-patriotic family. My grandfather had been in the Navy. We had a flagpole that he had made himself (he was a handyman, but sheetmetal worker by trade), and the flag flying at all times outside of the house. We stood up and put our hands over our heart for the National Anthem--to this day, I cry when I hear that song (and God Bless America, even though I am agnostic).

Thank you so much for respecting my views. And, how did you know I was a nuthead??? :D (just kidding)

how did I know? Easy! not_hothead_yet March 22 2003, 14:09:24 UTC
us Nutheads always recognize each other.

That and your diary.... your life/day is much like mine.

We nutheads have to stick together, regardless of our political/religious/social/class differences. You are strong and open - two things I highly respect.

Ah, to be amongst nutcases again! How refreshing! LOL

I read your diary first--Just your diary name ALONE drew me towards it.

I am overly stubborn and opinionated. Taylor, my autistic daughter is soooooooooooooo stubborn--I wonder where she gets the from??? :D

I may not have all the same views as you...I am a liberal, I don't really care for the current administration...but I support what you have said.

I am against the current war, mainly because I feel the President acted too soon without UN backing, and I am unsure how constitutional this all is...but I support the women and men in the armed forces, and I support the freedoms that America stands for. I also feel everyone has a right to say what is on their minds without fear of retribution...which is the foundation of the First Amendment.

I saw that you added me, I will add you back. hope you don't mind some liberal rants here and there (which I usually put behinf LJ cuts!)...nothing anti-America, because even though I am not a fan of Bush, I am not anti-American. if that makes sense!

I really like Mr. Bush but, I voted for him so that is probably why. I probably wouldn't have believed in this war, had I not seen what terrorism can do to our own country. I think having neighbors that lived in Iraq as well, telling horrible stories of living under that regime also tainted my persuasion on this issue.

I respect those opposing the war, like yourself--doing it peaceful and respectful. It is the ones that go out and damage things, start fights with the police, etc. We had one of them call in a bomb threat in the MBTA train station the other day--(my husband works as a bus driver in Boston), which was just to keep the police busy while they marched. It just goes too far with some, you know?

I am very worried about the POW's of ours right now--The regime didn't follow the 1441 resolution for 12 years, so I can't imagine them upholding the Geneva Convention rules as well.

*Sigh*

I don't know what it is about Bush...I just never liked him. Something about him irritates me, I am not a fan of his politics on a personal level (again, I am a liberal) and he seems to eager to "jump the gun" on things (although he did do a good job after 9-11, I must say ( ... )

Jeb Bush--UCK! placid_chaos March 24 2003, 17:19:07 UTC
That guy is the Billy Carter of the Bush family. I still can't figure out how he keeps getting re-elected! I have gone to Florida many times and am amazed at the economy with the working class. I also know others in the school systems down there and I agree with you--Jeb is not someone willing to work for education.

He reminds me of our former governor, Dukakis--That guy was just as bad! (or, in my opinion anyway).

I agree with everything you said!! It is so refreshing to hear it from people I don't know, even then I don't hear it(sigh)

I didn't know MA had any conservatives.:O)

btw, I like Jeb, with the exception of the fcat I think he has done a better job than the previous gov. He grades the schools now, and that got the principals off their lazy rear-ends to make sure the teachers are teaching. FL has a long way to go before our schools systems will be running half-way decent. Jeb got the ball rolling, and it has literally ticked off a lot of people who don't want anything to change.
I could go on and on. but I won't.:O)

I used to think I was the only conservative but recently found out that, most of the town that I live in is the same way. It shocked me because, they always vote in the liberal state Rep--it just must be because she is a town girl and grew up here.

I grew up in a democrat house--I don't know where my genes came from but, I have always been a conservative. My mother always made fun of me because I voted for 'the other guy' each time.

As for Jeb, I really only know of what I have seen on TV and from those that live in FLA. Other than that, he isn't my governor. We just got rid of a real doozy--Amazingly named Governor SWIFT! Boy, did she make our state miserable for a very long time....glad she's gone.

Thank you for adding me to your friends list. I will be over to post in a few (kids just came home--everyone wants something).
