Had a new couple over Saturday. Enjoyed their company. Routine evening, if you want to call anything we do with other swinging couples routine. Did find out some weird commonalities, though. Both A and the other girl graduated from the same small college in Pennsylvania and both are scorpios. They are coming back over later this week.

So I'm the Chair of the Search Committee for a new Communication prof -- one trained in journalism. I've been on search committees before, but never the head of one. It's good experience. I think I'm doing well do far. We've gone through the stack of applications, chosen a few, did the phone interviews, and started scheduling on-campus interviews. ( Read more... )

Dean just asked me if I would serve as the College's representative to a new University committee concerning online publishing. Our Dean does do his research, I've noticed. We sold our old car yesterday. 1995 white Ford Contour. It was the first car we bought as a couple and we were its first owners (previously leased car though). UNC-Chapel Hill has invited me to apply for a position. I would teach business/management communication to undergrads and grads in the MBA program. Those teaching in top-tiered business schools earn very high salaries ($70-80K). I've already had one interview with the program director and she's invited me to apply for their newest open position. Did our taxes yesterday using the TurboTax software. Used it last year also. It is so easy to use, very thorough, and a lot cheaper for us than H&R Block (or its equivalent). Anyway, we're getting $1300 back from federal and $400 back from state. Not bad. Not as much as last year, but still....

Yea! A. passed her insurance licensing exam and is now a certified insurance rep. Time for her raise! :)

I'm without spouse this week. She's in Raleigh taking her insurance class. She'll take her insurance license exam on Saturday and then come home. When she passes the test, she'll get her raise and promotion. In fact, she'll then be able to transfer our home and car insurance to the corporation she works for, which will provide us with better ( Read more... )
