It feels like Friday (it's not)
Time for drinking and then sleeping
Still two days away and even then
Only one day's calm in the midst of work
No two day oasis for me.

There is a lot of love in this room. Casually tranferred from hand to hand, arms around waists, high fives and cheeks against shoulders. With emptied bottles and glasses passed around, it is a night for relaxing, for stepping back and cutting loose, a still place in the manic flow of our daily lives. I've just got in from work and written this short piece of almost-fiction. I haven't actually read it through yet, but it's the first time in a long time I've written something that is complete, so it deserves a posting. Read it if you feel like it, I have no idea how good/not it is.

I forgot to mention here that just before Christmas I got my hair cut (but about 6 inches) and dyed much blonder - well, not *very* blonde, but certainly not red like it was. I just spent a while playing guitar for the first time in probably about 6 weeks and now my chord hand feels very hot. I know it's because I've been flexing it and moving each finger independently, etc, but it's still weird. Playing/singing felt good though ( Read more... )

So, despite the negativity of the work part of my last entry, I now think that us moving to Punch may be a good move. They actually seem willing to put money into the business, the people all seem really helpful and we've had visits from most of the important ones already and it feels like we'll actually be able to move forward. So, in the last two weeks I have done very very little except for work. We've been ridiculously short staffed, combined with having a bit of an epic weekend (we took nearly 10grand, a normal weekend is about 5, maybe 6 on a really good week), which exhausted me somewhat. Happiness is standing under the Angel of the North in the pouring rain reading mis-spelt but curiously sweet graffiti.
