This story really quite upset me

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/shropshire/7078455.stm

I guess probably because its so close to home - Susie needed 4 bags of blood after giving birth to Belle.

I do really hate religion - it's just so bloody selfish >:-(

It's crazy - poor little babes growing up without a mam because she (and most of her religion) doesn't know the difference between "eating blood" (the phrase in the bible that caused all the problems{1}) and having it infused into her veins! If you eat/digest blood, it's unlikely to save your life - if you have a transfusion, it just might give the child a mother!
{1} Leviticus 17:10

Speaking of child... I guess I'm going to have to beg for an invite to meet Belle...? I wanted to wait till most of the "oooh new baby" floods of visitors calmed down (and get over my baby-dreams that started after she arrived so Stephen wasn't SO paranoid I was gonna start going "I want one" :) - when you get some free time and wouldn't mind a visitor (or two), let me know???

PS. On a kinda relevant note - got my 10 donations for The Blood Donors Bronze award recently, so Yey! :D

Not to eat blood is perfectly good advice to a group of desert dwelling nomads.

However, I'm not giving up black pudding.

(Or blood transfusion...)

Unfortunately Richard Dawkins can't be everywhere at once. :(

Still, if he could, he could logically disprove his own existence.

See... those people.

Those people in any medical situation involving their child will be automaticcally declared unfit parents so that their child is removed and given treatment.

What sucks is.... we then give them their child back. WHY? If they are unfit, they are unfit.... simple.

Ah well... if anything everytime they do something so mind bogglingly dumb theres less of them.... also it keeps the blood spare for people worth saving.

Of course until society is willing to point out that anyone harbouring such religious convictions is patently as crazy as someone who believes themselves to be Napoleon weve got to put up with them....

It sucks... big time.

Regardless of what I do or don't believe, I know that I totally worship Kira and therefore will do anything and everything to make sure I am around for her - yes, even give up pies!

How a mother can chose her God over her children is beyond me, especially when she has had 9 months of making plans for a future for them. The love I felt for Kira was overwhelmingly immense long before she was born and it grew as she grew. If they had said 'Mel, the only way this child will be born safely and healthily is to cut your leg off' I would not have hesitated. Surprisingly, this feeling just grows with her.

You may have guessed but I love being a Mum. How is it going for you guys?

Its just great babe. Susie is just a brilliant mum - am sure she'd agree with the leg cutting off bit too. :)
