I got the first ever compliment the other day about my teeth, not my smile but my teeth. I was in the Star of India booth smiling and saying hi to people and this man says something like, "Wow your parents must've spent a lot of money on you, you're teeth are so pretty and straight." ..... :-D ( Read more... )

I had never seen a dragonfly before in the city. My experience of them was limited to outdoorsy places outside of San Diego. I have always been in awe of them, so beautiful and graceful, flittering deftly across lakes and ponds. They remind me of fairies with their delicate incandescent wings. I've had something like nightmares before, where I found myself pregnant, but I didn't know how it happened. I hadn't had sex, that I could remember-- and I didn't remember blanking out for any period of time in which it could have happened. So there I was, pregnant, with no explanation for it. It recently occurred to me that San Diego has a really wide variety of taxis. Sure, we have a few yellow and orange cabs, but they don't dominate the taxi scene like they do in other cities. We have a lot of blue cabs, some silver cabs, multi-colored cabs, even pink cabs. As of Tuesday evening I have started writing down the names of taxis I see ( Read more... )

I have great narratives in my head, but they never come out right "on paper," or they never come out at all. My brain is too fast for my fingers, which is sad, considering my fingers type a hell of a lot faster than actually writing things on paper.
