Glossy screens
I don't get the switch to glossy screens on laptops and HDTVs. One of the great things about the matte screens is that they have no glare, which gives you the opportunity to place it anywhere in the room instead of being confined to having to put the screen in a certain place or cloes the curtains half the time to be able to see anything. Sushi with brown rice
I've been seeing this request on the food board I read and I have to ask- why? How many times did I see any other type of rice aside from the sticky white Japanese rice while I was in Japan? A big fat zero. So why are people asking for brown rice on sushi? I'm not saying that I really care about authenticity, but Japanese people loathe brown rice. ( Read more... ) -

There is some suggestion that the selection process for the peeps going to London is different from that used in the general pool- like they can only accept a few people from London regardless of the quality of entries. Why I don't ever want to move to NYC
I keep reading about a certain neighborhood coop that is often compared to some Stalinist nightmare, yet people insist that it's the greatest thing since sliced bread because you work 3 hours a month or whatever and can get great produce for 30% cheaper. Job Hunt
I'm starting my job hunt for next summer. It's such a nerve-wracking process when you don't have the hottest grades. I'm trying to apply to mid-sized law firms that have around 100-250 lawyers, although I am applying to a few bigger and a few smaller ones. Vegetarians
I'm addicted to this food forum and some people on there who eat everything get annoyed when their vegetarian hosts don't make a meat dish. It's one thing to try to accommodate people who have dietary restrictions, but if you're a person who eats everything, you won't be left out if the host doesn't make you a meat dish. I saw this one truck today with these anti-female Marine stickers- "It's a men's club," "Ex-Vietnam vets are not fonda Jane," and a few others about how women shouldn't be going until the Marines. I can't say I have any desire to join the marines, but I still found them to be repugnant. -
Least Favorite Harry Potter Book
I don't have a plus account so I can't make a poll, but just wondering which HP book people liked the least. Citizens
Today was a bit slow at the courthouse. I went to watch one trial but the attorneys were reading straight off the deposition so I ended up going to see some people become citizens. Some people think I go to an Irish Catholic school
Does the French name not give people some hint that the school was founded by someone who wasn't Irish? It's not like I wake up in the morning thinking that USC was founded by Trojans.
