October makes me miss New England. The weather is so unpredictable-- yesterday it was practically pool conditions and today I almost froze walking between classes. I don't understand how people navigate the temperature down here. Outside, it's always in the mid-to-high-80s (and sunny). To compensate, they keep the indoor climate sub-Arctic. My fingernails are painted a deep red right now. The shade is "Ruby Slipper," and the job was done on Monday night by a professional manicurist hired for the 2006 Substance-Free Senior All-Night Party. I've been boasting for the past few years that I don't get sick. I avoid the flus that everyone gets; if I feel a cold coming on, I ignore it and it goes away.
